Larry Clark's Marfa Girl

November 28, 2012

Not sure why I haven’t heard anything about this new film by Larry Clark. Marfa Girl seems to have won a major award at the Rome Film Festival this year.

Clark has decided to forgo theatrical distribution and is streaming the film 24/7 on his website for the very reasonable price of $5.99.

I haven’t watched it yet and there is no official trailer as far as I can see. The clip above is the only footage I could find, but it still might be worth watching when time permits.

Stream the film here.

Gregory Crewdson – Brief Encounters

September 26, 2012

Screening at Film Forum from October 31 – November 13, 2012.

The original and amazing David Lean directed film Brief Encounter will also be screening at Film Forum a couple of weeks before.

This photograph from Crewdson’s Beneath the Roses series has that original film listed on a theater marquee.

“My intension is not to exploit, but rather to show how complex Kaczynski’s thinking is. I believe his warnings are just. Of course I find his methods wrong, but then again I pay taxes, which have been used to kill lots of innocent people over the past fifty years, so I guess I’m not so innocent myself.”

Christian Marclay

March 9, 2012

You have to be a subscriber to read this week’s inspiring New Yorker article about Christian Marclay, his work and process, and how he came up with and eventually configured The Clock.

For those that missed it at Paula Cooper Gallery last year or just didn’t feel like waiting in line, The Clock will supposedly be coming back; First to Lincoln Center this summer and then to MOMA, who has purchased a copy for their collection.
